CALLING ALL NORTH STATE THEATER FANS!

18 02 2010

Rebekah Pearson has taken the first step in making her dream of the Shasta Theater Alliance a reality.  The purpose of the organization is to support ALL theatrical endeavors here in the North State and offer services – such as a Newsletter, membership support, and a Tony-style awards event.  Rebekah is just in the fledgling stages of gathering together advisers, board of directors, and forming the  specifics of the organization.  She has created a fun and interesting online survey/questionnaire for the purpose of gathering input from as many individuals as possible to ensure that the Shasta Theater Alliance offers its members what they want the most.  To take the survey go to: http://shastatheatrealliancesurvey.questionpro.com/ Brava to Rebekah and those that are helping form this exciting new concept!  Personally, I would love to have a central organization that could keep track of all the upcoming audition and show dates for us!

BARESTAGE SEEKS NEW PLAYS FOR DINNER THEATRE PRODUCTIONS!

23 02 2009

The BareStage Theatre in Red Bluff is currently accepting original play script submissions for production in Summer, 2009.

The deadline is May 15, 2009. Manuscripts received past that postmark will not be considered.
The specific guidelines for submitting work can be found online at www.barestage.com.

The nonprofit organization is looking for scripts appropriate for special dinner theatre presentations. Dramas, comedies, murder mysteries, musicals, collections of one-act plays and skits are all welcome.
The scripts, however, must be simple to produce, and must not require elaborate special effects, staging or set changes, as they will be presented in restaurants.

The cast size should not exceed 12 actors, though the characters may exceed that if actors can play multiple roles. The script length should not exceed a two-hour runtime (approximately 80 pages), whether a full- length play or collection of shorts.

Multiple submissions are also welcomed and encouraged. The plays may or may not have ever been produced before.

All scripts submitted to BareStage are carefully critiqued by qualified readers and all authors will receive a written evaluation for each play. No script will be considered without the required return self- addressed, stamped no. 10 envelope (SASE), and the appropriate evaluation fee, determined by page count, as detailed at the website.

The authors of the selected works will receive a nightly stipend/royalty for each performance, which will be based upon the length of the individual plays. Detailed information about the authors and their work will also be featured prominently in the theatre’s promotional materials and on its website. The website, which has a special partnership with Google, receives an average of 200 visitors from all over the globe ever single day. Additionally, each author will receive the standard complimentary tickets to performances, as well as posters, programs, photos and promotional materials from their production.

Since 2002, BareStage Theatre has produced dozens of original one-act and full-length plays of all styles from authors throughout the world.

The theatre is a completely volunteer tax-exempt Artists’ Cooperative, where all proceeds go directly into the production of original work for the benefit of the artists and the audiences alike.
